Children’s Dentistry in San Antonio
Are you looking for a pediatric dentist for your children? Our general practice offers child-friendly care with a highly experienced family dentist. Our dentist and hygienist both love working with children. By bringing your entire family to the same dentist, you can avoid extra trips across town or referrals back and forth between other providers.
Dental Exams and Cleanings
We work at your child’s pace. Bringing your child in for early exams helps familiarize them with the dental experience to reduce the chances of dental anxiety in the future. Plus, it allows us to partner with parents to screen for concerns that can be reversed or intercepted before they damage other teeth. During their cleaning, we’ll also work with your child to help them develop age-appropriate healthy oral hygiene habits.
Protective Dental Sealants
Dental sealants help safeguard some of the most cavity-prone areas in your child’s mouth. The thin protective coatings take only a few minutes to place and instantly make teeth easier to clean with a toothbrush. Best of all, most dental insurance plans cover pediatric sealants at 100% up to age 14. No numbing or drilling is necessary.
Experts recommend screening all children for orthognathic (bite misalignment) needs by age 7, when they have a healthy combination of adult and baby teeth. In addition to routine orthodontic evaluations, we also offer braces for all ages.
Digital X-rays are safe for all ages. These low-dose radiographic images allow us to screen for decay, disease and other anomalies that are not visible during a clinical exam. Through earlier diagnostics, we’re able to intercept smaller issues before they become complex concerns. Depending on the age and comfort level of your child, we may use various types of digital imaging to assess different parts of their smile.
Most basic treatments—such as fillings or extractions—can be completed in our office. Children under the age of 7 are typically referred to a nearby pedodontist (children’s specialist) and we coordinate the care process for your family.
